1950 Gibson LG-2

I picked this scalloped braced, rosewood fingerboard, spruce top, mahogany back, and sides LG-2 from someone in Sarasota, FL area. The high humidity in Florida caused most of the braces to come unglued. The owner used some funky rubber glue to hold them in place. It was creative but didn't preserve the tone very well. It was all original bar the tuners which I picked up period correct from someone on reverb. I sent it to rehab with my Luthier. It came back, sounding like a completely different guitar. I strung it up with a set of John Pearse LM 610 strings. The volume is incredibly loud with a great bass response and an even tone for a small-bodied guitar. I noticed an uptick in prices for these guitars lately, and I can see why. It's a fantastic singer-songwriter guitar very comfortable to hold without getting in the way. In my opinion, out of all of the great guitars Gibson has built over the years, the most versatile and value-oriented guitar is probably a vintage LG-2.
