1968 Gibson Hummingbird

October 4, 2019

Northern Virginia find, which I thought was ironic “Sweet Virginia” get it? The Rolling Stones mostly during the 1960’s and early 70’s recorded many of their famous acoustic songs using Gibson Hummingbird guitars. “Sweet Virginia” a Rolling Stones classic tune being one of them. It’s a natural finish Hummingbird as opposed to the “burst” reddish -yellow — it’s similar to the many photo’s of Keith Richards playing a natural finish Hummingbird guitar. The adjustable saddle doesn’t bother me. It adds a much different tone than some of my other guitars. Variety is the spice of life, so they say? I do have a ceramic saddle that I might add to change the tone up a bit. That said, the rosewood saddle that’s on now offers a nice dry woody tone with good base response.
